Out For Our Children was originally founded in February 2004 by lesbian mothers with very young children to write guidelines as an aid for nurseries ill-prepared to welcome babies and toddlers with lesbian parents.
We soon realised that appropriate resources such as books, pictures, songs, or jigsaws do not exist in this country. We set out to fill the gap. Out for our Children has received financial assistance from the National Lottery Awards for All, the Local Network Fund (Every Child Matters), Haringey Community Chest and the Scarman Trust. These grants have enabled us to run a creche so the group can meet, produce resources and learning materials, run workshops on illustration and writing for children and to run a weekend 'futures' workshop.
